Knife-sheath - Nepal - 1960-1970

Traditional Nepalese kukri (khukuri) parade knife, recognizable by its characteristic curved blade shaped like an “L” and the ritual notch (kaudi) near the heel, an almost systematic feature on traditional kukris.
The blade, made of steel, is finely engraved on both faces with floral motifs, stylized birds, and scrollwork.
The handle, carved bone, is adorned with red/brown concentric motifs and inlaid with two yin-yang symbols in mother-of-pearl/black and white brass.
The sheath, wooden and covered in metal (brass/brass alloy) richly chiselled with floral motifs, features a front plate with a golden laurel crown surrounding a yin-yang medallion, flanked by riveted metallic medallions. The interior is lined with leather/felt.
Important note: the level of decoration (yin-yang, floral medallions, dense chiselling) is characteristic of a good-quality commercial Nepalese production, probably from the second half of the 20th century, rather than a military or historical combat kukri. This piece is offered without certificate of authenticity or any established dating.
