About Karl Lagasse
Karl Lagasse is a French contemporary artist renowned on the international stage for his sculptures and works blending different artistic techniques.
His career took a turning point in 2009 with his emblematic One Dollar series, which earned him a place by Artprice among the ten best sculptors under thirty.
In 2012, New York publisher Farameh included him in the work FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art, devoted to fifty contemporary artists inspired by traditional symbols of America.
During Art Paris Art Fair 2016, his imposing bronze sculpture One Dollar, two meters tall and exhibited at the Grand Palais, received the French President’s congratulations.

Artistic Journey
Karl Lagasse discovered his passion for art very young. At seven, he created his first collages after a formative encounter with sculptor César Baldaccini.
Subsequently, he grew interested in graffiti and tagging in the Paris metro while continuing to work on collage. The artist Yvaral Vasarely encouraged him to merge these two artistic worlds, an approach that helped shape his creative identity.
In 2003, he prepared his first Paris exhibition before organizing his first solo show in 2006 at Galerie Isy Brachot in Brussels.
In 2008, he presented at Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris an exhibition bringing together paintings, sculptures, and video installations.

Exhibitions and International Reach
Karl Lagasse regularly exhibits in fairs and galleries around the world.
In 2011, he was represented by Bel Air Fine Art at the Art Monaco fair, where he presented his work Cryptogram One.
The following year, Galerie ARTCO France exhibited his One Dollar series around the theme “In God We Trust.”
In 2016, his major solo exhibition at the Atrium Gallery in Marbella (Spain) was inaugurated by the city mayor, who publicly praised his work before international press.

Public Commissions and Major Achievements
In 2010, Karl Lagasse was chosen to represent the town of Deauville at the Horsemania world championship in Lexington (USA), for which he created a horse sculpture.
In 2012, he donated to Deauville his bronze sculpture Cryptogram One, installed at the town’s entrance as a symbol of peace and love.
That same year, in collaboration with Corbis, he designed a monumental sculpture for the Cannes Festival, composed of photographs covering the period 1945–2011 and signed by several personalities, including Alexandra Lamy and Matthew McConaughey.

Trophies of the Deauville American Film Festival
In 2017, Karl Lagasse was commissioned to design the trophies for the 43rd edition of the Deauville American Film Festival.
Inspired by his work Cryptogram One, these mirrored aluminum cast trophies bear inscriptions such as “Hope,” “7th Art,” and “Deauville.”
For the 46th edition in 2020, he created a new trophy inspired by the famous barriers along Deauville’s Planches.

Monumental Installations
In 2016, France Culture highlighted his monumental installation A Piece of Heaven on Earth, unveiled at Art Paris Art Fair 2015 in collaboration with Maserati.
This work combines a Maserati covered with a white veil, a statue of Jesus, and several dollar-shaped sculptures to explore notions of human debt and spirituality.
