With this square-format artwork, Medsan reinterprets Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam by replacing the newborn man with E.T., the most endearing alien in cinema, hero of Steven Spielberg's cult film.

The treatment imitates the Baroque ceiling fresco: pastel sky, wispy clouds, chubby cherubs and a finely craquelé plaster surface. The mythical gesture is cited twice — God's hand extends the index toward the creature's luminous finger, in a spark that is also the famous “glowing finger” of E.T. A second arm, below, cradles the alien in the palm like a sacred relic. The cartouche メドサン signs the work.

The piece fuses the founding gesture of humanism with the myth of first contact. By sanctifying the benevolent extraterrestrial, Medsan thoughtfully questions our relationship to the other and to elsewhere: what if creation, or salvation, came from the stars?

A poetic and spiritual piece, ideal for adding a touch that is both classical and pop to a contemporary interior of a collector who loves old painting and cult cinema.
