Description from the seller
ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertically formatted artwork, Medsan brings together Kanagawa's The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai and Hulk, Marvel's green giant, in a titanic clash between the force of nature and the power of the superhero.
The treatment deploys a dramatically textured oil: the legendary wave from Hokusai, sculpted in thick relief with Prussian blues, creamy whites and crests of foam, closes in on the giant. Hulk, standing at the heart of the swirl, seems to hold back the wall of water with bare hands, muscles taut, under a stormy sky. Mount Fuji looms in the distance, tiny. The cartouche メドサン signs the work.
The piece stages the collision of two mythical forces: the wave, an immemorial symbol of ocean fury, and Hulk, the incarnation of raw, untamable rage. Medsan makes the Edo-era print converse with the American comic in a single celebration of unleashed power.
A spectacular and dynamic piece, ideal for adding an epic and Japanese-inspired touch to a contemporary interior of a collector who loves comics and Japanese art.

About the Workshop:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists gathered around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a real artistic production space, the workshop operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematographic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, naive art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the workshop, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
