Medsan, Batman's Great Wave Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏) – UNIQUE WORK, a vertical 40 × 60 cm giclée on wooden framed panel, 2026, edition 1/1, hand-signed, in excellent condition, from France, depicting Pop Art themes and Batman against The Great Wave.
Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertical-format work, Medsan makes La Grande Vague de Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai converse with Batman, the Dark Knight from DC Comics, shown with his back to the raging sea, in a wind-swept field.
The treatment blends the Japanese print with a post-impressionist touch: the legendary wave boils up in Prussian blue swirls bordered with white, while the foreground, a rippling green-and-ginger field, is brushed in thick strokes evoking Van Gogh. Mount Fuji reddens on the horizon of a pastel sky. A solitary silhouette, cape in the wind, Batman gazes at the immensity. The cartouche メドサン signs the work.
The piece fuses Gotham’s lone guardian with the contemplative power of the Japanese landscape. Faced with the wave, symbol of destiny and impermanence, the hero becomes a tiny sentinel, meditating before forces greater than himself. Medsan builds a bridge between American pop myth and the tragic serenity of Edo-era art.
A contemplative and graphic piece, ideal for bringing a cinematic and Japanese-inflected touch to a contemporary interior of a collector who loves comics and Japanese art.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true site of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual pathways, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
