Description from the seller
HE WHO EXISTS ONLY ONCE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertical-format artwork, Medsan kneels Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith from Star Wars, in a traditional Japanese tea room, absorbed in the ritual gestures of the matcha ceremony.
The treatment adopts the language of ukiyo-e prints and vintage posters: ornamental frame, aged paper, strong outlines and delicate flat areas, tatami mats, a calligraphic kakemono, and an ikebana arrangement in the background. The Sith lord, faithful to his black armor and glowing chest plate, holds the chasen (tea whisk) above the bowl, in a posture of astonishing serenity. The cartouche メドサン signs the work.
The piece plays on a startling contrast: the figure of absolute evil, embodiment of power and violence, engaging in the most peaceful and meditative art there is. Medsan humorously and subtly questions the possibility of inner peace, this moment of contemplation where even the most formidable warrior lays down his weapons.
A refined and witty piece, ideal for adding a Japanese-flavored, offbeat touch to a contemporary collector’s interior who loves Star Wars and Japanese art.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around vibrant and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true production space for art, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo follows a more instinctive path, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
