Description from the seller
ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertical-format artwork, Medsan presents Ultraman, the iconic Japanese tokusatsu light giant, towering above a rejoicing city in the pose of the Spacium, beneath a crepuscular sky lined with rays.
The treatment blends traditional woodblock print aesthetics with retro poster design: an ornate frame, title carts written in calligraphy, a bold ink stroke, and flat areas of red and silver. The colossal hero, a luminous heart on his chest (the Color Timer) radiating, crosses his arms in the gesture of his legendary attack, while below, the tiny crowd of a commercial district raises their arms toward their savior. The cartouche 光の巨人図 signs the work.
The piece celebrates Ultraman’s protective and benevolent figure, the luminous kaijin born in postwar Japan as hope falling from the heavens. Medsan pays homage to him in the very language of Japanese popular imagery, between flamboyant heroism and collective fervor.
A spectacular and radiant piece, ideal for adding a Japanese touch and a heroic vibe to a contemporary interior of a collector of tokusatsu and Japanese culture.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true center of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward Pop Art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive research, blending abstract art, brut art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
