With this vertically formatted work, Medsan paints Homer Simpson, the icon of the cult series The Simpsons, in a melancholic range of blues that pays homage to Pablo Picasso's blue period.

The treatment is that of a sensitive and introspective oil: blue-toned monochrome, broad strokes, cold light pouring from a high window onto a bare, stark room. Curled up in a corner, with a worn coat on his back, the character fixes his reflection in a puddle—an older, more tired face that watches him. The execution evokes Picasso’s portraits of the indigent and the solitary. The cartouche メドサン signs the work.

By transposing Homer into the Picasso-like palette of melancholy, Medsan reveals an unexpected depth behind the comic character. Beneath the laughter of satire, solitude, doubt, and the fatigue of the ordinary man emerge. The entertainment icon becomes a mirror of our own vulnerabilities.
