Harp - 1880

A historical musical instrument is a Gothic harp (also known as a Renaissance or minstrel harp). This specific model is a historical-type hookless diatonic harp, probably dating from the 18th or 19th century. The design matches historical specimens preserved in museum collections, such as a well-known German example in The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Features of this instrument
Diatonische tuning: The instrument has no pedals or hook mechanisms to play semitones in between.
Slender soundbox: The soundbox is relatively narrow and triangular, characteristic of early European harps.
Decorative carving: The upper neck and the scroll feature detailed, artisanal wood carving in a Gothic style.
Sound holes: On the back and side of the soundbox are circular holes to project the handmade sound more effectively; shows some signs of age—see photos—but remains a beautiful specimen. Shipping costs are somewhat higher due to size and bulky packaging.

Functional condition: the harp is currently unplayable and is sold for restoration (or as a decorative piece / collector’s item).
