Description from the seller
David Law
Multidisciplinary Photographic Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
A multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of imagery in urban space. He first became known through a series devoted to shop window models, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a disturbing, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of legends
This series pays tribute to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema, and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an identity immediately recognizable. Realized using contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil aesthetic, the works sit within the tradition of street art, balancing spontaneity and mastery of gesture. The deep black and rough surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while the imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops authorial and musical projects including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
