Description from the seller
David Law
Multidisciplinary Photographic Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling presence, almost alive, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of legends
This series pays homage to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to the essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an identity that is immediately recognizable. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil-like aesthetic, the works sit within the tradition of street art, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. The deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with soft anti-UV and anti-humidity lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
