Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made himself known through a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Walls of legends
This series pays tribute to iconic figures who marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to the essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an instantly recognizable identity. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil aesthetic, the works sit within the tradition of street art, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct wall intervention, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with flexible UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
