AI-assisted summary

Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and, more importantly, with working in the studio. Later he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later be his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school where he began to work with materials that would be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel, Porto continued his training on his own and researched other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning towards the use of bronze and steel as the definitive materials for his works.

After this initial training phase, he decided to install his workshop on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to the place where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical research into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual course of his works, endowing the whole of his body of work with complexity and depth, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
