Müller Stancescu (XX) - Pradeal

The artist is a Romanian painter who lived across the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Elena Müller Stancescu is best known for her floral still lifes. She was featured in important international exhibitions such as the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1889 and the Bucharest International Exhibition of 1902. The painting presented here is an oil on cardboard titled Predeal and signed and dated at the bottom right, 50×35 with a frame measuring 61×47. On the back there is a stamp authenticating the work. Her paintings appear in the major international auctions. Landscapes are rarer than still lifes and therefore more sought after. The frame is contemporary and already substantial, with a swallowtail inlay.
