Around the work:
Many influences emanate from the work of Ukrainian photographer Ruslan Lobanov. Among them cinema, fashion but also and especially the assumed eroticism of the sacred monster Helmut Newton. A fervent admirer of the Australian photographer, Ruslan Lobanov also becomes known for his black-and-white photographs of female nudes. Behind each shot, the staging and the attitude of the characters tell a story whose ending is at the viewer's discretion.
About the artist:
Ruslan Lobanov is one of the most influential artists in Eastern Europe. When he photographs female nudes, he draws inspiration from cinema and fashion and creates erotic photographs in which the sensuous bodies of women are displayed without reservation. Breaking established codes, these women embody a female freedom that earned the photographer a distinction in Beverly Hills at the International Color Awards in 2015, and they feature in notable collaborations with Playboy and L’Officiel, as well as with the cosmetics group L’Oréal.
Ruslan is one of the finest photographers of the twentieth century, alongside Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Philippe Halsman, Elliott Erwitt, Annie Leibovitz, or Robert Capa.
