Le Yack - The Liberation - Hand signed

Under the canopy of branches, the Arc de Triomphe rises in its clear mass, a huge tricolor flag hanging beneath its vault. In the square, life as of a postwar day: a mother pushes a wicker pram with a sleeping infant, a man in a suit rides by on a bicycle, leather satchel at the handlebar; an elegant couple strolls, another chats to the right; black and navy blue Citroën Traction Avant cars and a green platformed bus move in front of the monument. Semantically, contrast is the whole subject: the heroic grandeur of the monument and the flag against the gentleness of ordinary gestures — the child, the stroll, the conversation. The palette of light stone, dulled blues and greens, bathed in frank light, situates the scene in a peaceful nostalgia; clean execution, measured touch.

Le Yack, emerging French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, aka Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) of Orléans. He is an art director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited in a network of around forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, the United States.
