Three pieces of old/antique Indonesian (Javanese) cigarette or cigar boxes.
The lids are decorated with beautiful relief-carving of a peacock with a fanned tail, surrounded by stylized floral motifs. Many of these boxes reached Europe as souvenirs carried by travelers or soldiers from the former Dutch East Indies.
The characteristic woodcarving is probably from the Jepara region in Java.
Largest box: 20 x 19 x 7 cm. Total weight: 1650 grams.

Drie stuks oude/antieke Indonesische (Javaanse) sigaretten of sigaren dozen.
De deksels zijn gedecoreerd met prachtig reliëfsnijwerk van een Pauw met een opgezette staart, omringd door gestileerde bloemmotieven. Veel van deze kistjes kwamen als souvenir naar Europa via reizigers of militairen uit voormalig Nederlands Indië. Het typerende houtsnijwerk is waarschijnlijk  van de regio Jepara uit Java. grootste kist 20 x 19 x 7 cm. totaal gewicht 1650 gram. datering jaren 1950
