Description from the seller
Okra Glass perfume bottles are pieces of British art glass that are highly prized by collectors. Okra is not a perfume brand, but rather an English studio specialising in art glass, founded in 1979 by Richard Golding, a master glassmaker known for his iridescent finishes inspired by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
They are handmade, so no two pieces are exactly alike.
The glass often displays an iridescent effect, with bluish, golden, purple or green hues, depending on the light.
This piece features a signature engraved into the glass at the base.
Most of the vases found on the antiques market were produced in the 1980s and 1990s, although the company continues to produce art glass today.
The example shown in the photos clearly bears the ‘Okra’ mark, with serial number 13 and the year of production, 1987.
The shape of this bottle is one of Okra’s most sought-after designs because it follows the tradition of British art glass inspired by Tiffany’s iridescent glass. The iridescence is achieved during production by applying metal salts to the glass whilst it is still hot, producing reflections that vary depending on the angle of the light.
All these bottles are made of blown glass.
A beautiful design piece for perfume or as a decorative item.
This lot will be carefully packed and sent by registered mail with a tracking number.
I do not sell to the U.S.A. and Canada.
All buyers who have to pay customs duties will be responsible for these costs.
