Mexican tray made of linaloe wood, a tree from Guerrero famous for its lightness and natural citrus aroma. Its surface is protected with the ancestral maque lacquer, a blend of vegetal oils and mineral earths rubbed by hand and polished with river stones to achieve a deep, satin black background. On this dark canvas stands a dense, freehand-painted floral design in yellows and ochres, recreating a striking bouquet of sunflowers and naïve-style dahlias that evoke the local nature. The perimeter frames the work with multiple concentric borders: geometric meanders of pre-Hispanic origin, interlaced networks, and a wavy festoon of small petals at the outer edge. A piece that balances natural materials with geometric mastery.
