Artistic description
Painting by the Contemporary Spanish School, signed "Francisco", created in the 1990s and dedicated to the portrayal of the Spanish fighting bull in its natural environment, a theme closely linked to traditional Spanish painting and genre scenes.
The composition shows a herd of bulls in open fields, distributed across different planes and accompanied by a horseman in the background. The arrangement of the animals conveys movement and vitality, while the equestrian figure reinforces the rural and livestock character of the scene.
The work is executed with a loose, energetic, expressive brushwork, especially evident in the terrain and the anatomy of the animals. The palette combines bright yellows and greens with blacks, grays, whites and earthy tones, creating a strong chromatic contrast. The sky, resolved with whites and soft blues, adds depth and brightness to the whole.
The bulls are the core of the composition, depicted in different postures and tonalities. The pictorial treatment prioritizes expressiveness and a sense of movement over academic detail, placing the work within a contemporary interpretation of Spanish taurine genre.
The painting is presented in a solid dark wooden frame with stepped moldings and a fine gilded inner rim, which complements the traditional character of the scene.
On the reverse there is the handwritten inscription "Toros en el campo", accompanied by a signature and the inscription "99".
