Unknown - - Violin - Austria

The subject of the sale is an antique 4/4 violin, built before 1900, attributed to the Austrian school. The instrument was appraised by a professional luthier in 2018. The author remains unknown, and the instrument has no label.

The violin is made from high-quality luthier woods:
Top plate – two-piece spruce,
Back plate – uniform flame maple,
Ribs – flame maple,
Head – uniform flame maple.
The instrument is finished with a brown varnish that retains the natural patina age has imparted.

Condition is good. The top plate, back plate, and head are in good condition. In the right arc (rib) there is a professionally glued crack. On the back plate there are varnish wear marks, typical of normal use for a more than one-hundred-year-old instrument.

Upper bout width: 164 mm,
Lower bout width: 200 mm.
