He was a painter who specialized in painting with a palette knife. John was a pupil at the Artibus Academy in Utrecht under Chris Achterberg and G. Nijenhuis. His favorite subjects were marine art (genre), cityscapes, landscapes (genre) and still lifes. Additionally he painted Southern European scenes under the pseudonym 'Camprio'.
