Ashanti beads - Achantis - Ghana (No reserve price)

Five long strings with colourful glass beads made up of ground-up glass bottles and fired in traditional kilns.
The glass powder is poured into small holes in clay moulds and are alternately decorated with thin layers of glass powder of different colours. This gives these beads a very attractive appareance. All beads are therefore handcrafted and are all slightly different. This type of Ashanti beads was typical for the 1980-90,s. Dim.; 14 x 7 mm to 17 x 9 mm. Collected in Kumasi in the late 1990,s.
