Half-hull of the 1958 Columbia yacht in high-quality wood.
Dimensions of the frame: 50 cm x 15.8 cm.
Columbia was designed by naval architect Olin Stephens and specially built by Nevins on City Island (New York) for the 17th America's Cup in 1958. Its cost is estimated at $300,000. It was the first 12-Metre class race.
After successfully defending the 1958 America's Cup against the British challenger Sceptre, 4–0, the yacht had a long competitive career in the Defender trials of 1962, 1964 and 1967 of the America's Cup.
