Description from the seller
This wakizashi from the Edo period has a signature of Yukinaga (行長). This example bears a two-character signature “行長” (Yukinaga) on the nakago, with no inscription on the reverse side. The jigane shows an itame-hada (wood grain pattern). The sword is mounted in a shirasaya (simple wooden scabbard and handle) for protection and preservation, and is supplied with a silk storage pouch. The blade length is 53.3 cm, with a curvature (sori) of 1.4 cm.
This sword comes with a copy of the Osaka Prefecture firearms and swords registration certificate, number 93803, as the original is being returned to the government. The details of the certificate are as follows: Type: Wakizashi, Length: 53.3 cm, Curvature: 1.4 cm, with two mekugi-ana (pen holes), and an inscription bearing the text “行長” (Yukinaga) on the front, and none on the back, issued on January 12, Shōwa 57 (1982).
The blade has small scratches. The shirasaya shows small dents and scratches. Refer to the photos for condition.
