Rare iconic trench-art piece by a Poilu soldier, a World War I brass biplane aircraft dating to 1910–1920 and finished in gold colour, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Magnificent rare iconic object from “trench craftsmanship” made by a “poilu” soldier, a World War I biplane aircraft, 1914-1918.
Entirely made of brass with salvaged parts from shell casings or other sources. A stand was designed later to display the plane. It will be included with the sale. The aircraft may have come loose from the stand due to a small screw. The screw does not cause any damage to the plane.
The plane appears to be in good condition; please take a close look at the photos. A beautiful, atypical piece steeped in history.
Ideal for collectors of curious objects.
Dimensions:
Total height with stand: 16.5 cm
Wingtip to wingtip length of the plane: 14.5 cm
Length from tail to propeller: 12 cm
Height of the plane alone: 5.5 cm
Fast and careful shipping
