Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A pair of oval bombé paintings on a shaped wooden and composite support with gilded wooden frames, made in Italy in the 1960s–1970s, each 46.5 × 37 × 8 cm and weighing 2.2 kg (total 4.4 kg), depicting still lifes with vases of flowers and signed in the lower right (Vrice).
Description from the seller
An enchanting pair of pendant oval paintings made on a shaped and distinctly domed (bombé / convex) support, depicting rich still lifes with vases of flowers inspired by Flemish and classical styles. The compositions stand out for the vivid colors of the petals (roses, chrysanthemums, dahlias) which contrast magnificently with the dark, enveloping background.
The particular convex curvature of the surface gives a suggestive three-dimensional effect and strong visual depth, further embellished by the carved oval wooden frames with a gilded finish. The work is signed by the artist in the lower corner (Vrice).
Subject: Still life / Vases of flowers (Pair pendant)
Structure / Support: Oval panels with a domed surface (bombé)
Frame: Carved oval wooden frame with gilded finish
Signature: Signed at bottom right
Era: Mid-20th Century (1950s - 1970s)
Conditions: Generally good overall preservation. The paintings retain a beautiful chromatic brilliance; the surface shows slight reflections and minimal signs of aging consistent with the period. Frames solid and well preserved. Only the signed painting shows a few small restoration marks at the top right and a small area of missing enamel at the bottom right, all as shown in the photos.
Large oval: 46.5 x 37 x 8 cm
Weight: 2.2 kg each
