****Variety: Ruby - native to the Afghan valleys, close to the Panjshir mining sites, these corundums whose chromium, the driver of the distinction of Sapphire as a jewel far rarer than Ruby, are prized in fine jewelry.
Its natural characteristics, without any treatments, attract a larger number of enthusiasts and collectors of rare and precious stones.
****Afghan Rubies are, today, commonly all heated to increase clarity and accentuate their color to deep tones due to their high iron content. The unheated rarities like this jewel here, the lot of this sale, are therefore an "investment-grade" not to be missed.
Colour: Intense red with deep tones accompanying high saturation blending Red, Purple, Pink to the distant "Blue flare" undoubtedly the most beautiful hue for a Ruby of collection.
