Tsuba - Japan

Japanese Mokko-gata Tsuba from the late Edo period, with a Nanako-ji surface.

The face depicts a charming pastoral scene featuring a boy riding a water buffalo / ox, accompanied by a figure leading the animal with a golden rope. The composition is detailed with blooming plum blossoms above and chrysanthemums below.

The reverse depicts a figure carrying a basket, floral details.
