Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration around gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a disturbing, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Fragment of Memory - Digital Keys
The portrait is no longer drawn, but suggested. Thousands of keyboard keys, arranged like a pixel weave, reveal the faces of personalities who have marked our imagination. From afar an icon appears, up close, a digital language composed of signs and silence.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated back mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, affixed between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as author and musician including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
