Beautiful painting by the Belgian artist Eugène Masselus (1897-1998).
Theme: Winter landscape along the Leie.
Oil on hardboard.
Signed.
Good condition.

with frame 67 x 56 cm (actually remnants of an old frame, hence the painting is offered without a frame).

Eugène Masselus is listed in the reference work “The Belgian visual artists from the 19th to the 21st century” by Paul Piron.
Born in Kortrijk in 1897 and died in 1998.
Created among other works village and townscapes, landscapes and dune views with an impressionistic touch.
Was a member of the Royal Saint Luke Guild in Kortrijk, where his hundredth birthday was celebrated during the 1997 exhibition.
Among other things he exhibited in group at the exhibition “Impressionisme in de Leiestreek” in Kortrijk in 1973 and was represented posthumously at the exhibition “Het Kortrijkse begijnhof in de schilderkunst” in the Sint-Annazaal of the Begijnhof in Kortrijk in 2007.
