Description from the seller
Virginia Woolf – To the Lighthouse – Uniform Edition – The Hogarth Press, London, 1930 – New Edition with original cloth dust jacket
Attractive copy of Virginia Woolf's masterwork To the Lighthouse, published by The Hogarth Press (Leonard & Virginia Woolf), in the sought-after Uniform Edition. This edition concerns the New Edition of 1930, as stated on the colophon. The novel originally appeared in May 1927; this copy is therefore not a first edition, but an early Hogarth Press release published while Virginia Woolf was still alive.
The book is bound in the original green cloth publisher's binding with gold lettering on the spine and comes with the rare original cloth dust jacket. The dust jacket shows normal wear, slight browning, and a few small tears and edge wear, but is notably complete. The binding is in neat condition with only light signs of use.
The interior is clean and complete. There is an ownership inscription dated 1932 on the front free endpaper. The paper is fresh with light, normal aging browning. No loose pages or missing leaves found.
To the Lighthouse is widely regarded as one of the most important modernist novels of the twentieth century and among Virginia Woolf's most influential works. Editions of The Hogarth Press, especially with the original dust jacket, are cherished by collectors of English literature.
