Giuseppe Longo (XX-XXI) - Terrazza su Capri

An extraordinary work by Giuseppe Longo that celebrates the magic of the Côte d'Amalfi with a scene of life en plein air. In the foreground, an elegant table set for breakfast — white porcelain tea service, a tray of sweets and pastries, a vase of yellow and pink roses — invites the viewer to sit between two ornate wrought-iron armchairs. The embroidered white tablecloth falls softly over the sculpted legs of the table, while the sunlight casts warm, golden shadows on the stone floor of the terrace.
Beyond the wrought-iron balustrade, the gaze opens onto a breathtaking view of the gulf: deep blue waters dotted with small boats and yachts, the famous sea stacks emerging from the sea, and the coast climbing with its red-tiled houses and pastel façades typical of the Coast. A wrought-iron street lamp hangs above, a characteristic element of the Campanian terraces, framing the vista like a stage set.
The painting technique stands out for its dense, tactile use of color — probably applied with a spatula — which gives the surface a vibrant, three-dimensional texture, particularly evident in the sky, clouds and vegetation.
