The artist's journey:
Son of parents working abroad, Pierre Sullice, alias pier, spent his childhood and adolescence in Latin America. It is during his stay in Ecuador, thanks to the friendship of his son-in-law, that he discovers the work of Oswaldo Guayasamín and awakens to painting. From that day, he becomes passionately devoted to painting, especially modern and contemporary.
After studying modern literature and philosophy, pier entered La Fémis before writing his first fiction screenplay, the story of a painter exiled in the Cévennes who discovers a materialist approach to painting thanks to a person with Down syndrome. Titled “Les bois transparents,” the screenplay won the Cent Premières œuvres, a competition run by France Télévisions. Pier himself made the film, which was broadcast on France 3, RFO and TMC and awarded at numerous festivals.
Not renouncing writing, reading and audiovisual animation, pier continues exploring the visual arts, creating numerous collages inspired by drawings by children. In 2023, after concluding his career in audiovisual, he settles in the Gard to devote himself exclusively to painting.
Thriving in his Lecques studio, pier broadens his pictorial recherches by working on recycled paper supports or decorative canvases on frames through acrylic paint, marker or pastel. In doing so, he openly aligns with an Art Brut and Cobra current that owes as much to Chaissac as to Karel Appel, Alechinsky or Bengt Lindström. By blending spontaneity and humor, he forges a personal path that leads to a florilegium of characters both surprising and endearing.
