Description from the seller
"Reinforced Cement" – From the street to your home
The new cycle of IABO's works plays on the double meaning of the title: "Reinforced Cement", which, by crossing out the "R", becomes "Cemento Amato" (Loved Cement). A pun that transforms the idea of the cement's solidity and strength into an emotional bond with the material and the artist's journey.
The choice to paint on cement panels is not casual but deeply symbolic. Those who know IABO know that his artistic path began in the 1990s as a graffiti writer and metropolitan writer, and then established himself, from 2003, as one of the first Neapolitan street artists.
In the following years, his work shifted from the street to the canvas, entering the world of contemporary art. With over 100 exhibitions worldwide – including museums, galleries and public and private spaces – IABO has consolidated a unique and recognizable language.
With "Reinforced Cement", the artist returns to his roots, paying homage to his past as a writer, when he painted on the city’s cement walls. This project rediscovers the most authentic, raw and lived urban aesthetics, returning that metropolitan flavor that characterizes street art.
The protagonists of these works are his famous "profiles", a series of characters reinvented with his distinctive brushstroke. The works are created with stencils and spray cans and, although the subjects recur, each piece is unique, thanks to the different textures and irregularities of the cement. Additionally, IABO uses stencils with a "lost-form" design, which cannot be reused, making each creation unrepeatable.
The works are already framed with a suspension system, which creates a floating effect and enhances the materiality of the cement. Each piece measures 65x65 cm (including the frame), is signed on the back and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity stamped and signed by the artist.
