Achille Perilli (Rome, January 28, 1927 – Orvieto, October 16, 2021) was an Italian painter, one of the most authoritative figures of Italian abstract art in the 20th century.

He attended the classical high school and in 1945 enrolled in the Faculty of Letters, preparing a thesis on Giorgio de Chirico without completing his degree. He was a cofounder, with Attardi, Consagra, Dorazio, Guerrini, Accardi, Sanfilippo and Turcato, of the artistic avant-garde known as Gruppo Forma, inspired by Marxist thought.

He exhibited in numerous solo and group shows, including participating in the Venice International Art Exhibition in 1952, 1958 and in 1962 and 1968 with a solo room. From 1948 to 1986 he participated in five editions of the Rome Quadriennale. Winner of the XI Lissone Painting Prize in 1959. In 1963-64 he exhibited at the show Peintures italiennes d'aujourd'hui, organized in the Middle East and North Africa. For his work he became a member of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in 1995 and received the Presidency of the Republic prize in 1997.

Together with Piero Dorazio, Mino Guerrini, Renzo Vespignani, Buratti, Muccini and Maffioletti, he founded Gruppo Arte Sociale (GAS). With Dorazio and Guerrini he founded the bookstore-gallery “Age d'Or,” which made him an organizer of artistic events such as the collaboration with the Triennale di Milano invited by Lucio Fontana.

His stylistic hallmark has been the constant search for the use and combination of geometric shapes and bright colors, a theme pursued throughout his life, exploring the forms of abstraction while maintaining stylistic coherence.
