Description from the seller
Terracotta salaturi, handcrafted in the South of Italy, originally used for brining olives and other foods. The cylindrical shape with thick walls, the rounded rim, and the two side handles make it a typical rural pantry container. Coated with a cream/brown glaze.
The surface shows an intense patina, with signs of use and small imperfections due to firing and time, which enhance the piece's wabi-sabi aesthetics. Today it is perfect as a sculptural element in the kitchen or living room, as a cache-pot for plants, a holder for cutlery or utensils, or simply as a collectible object for those who love Mediterranean peasant ceramics.
Authentically vintage conditions, with widespread glaze wear, small chips and incrustations consistent with the original function; details that contribute to the lived charm of Salaturi.
