The relief portrait is signed with L.R. Piron = Louis-René Piron (1872-1949).
The portrait also bears the signature/stamp of the foundry/manufacturer: Borrel = Alfred Borrel (1836-1927) France.
The portrait dates from 1900-1920.
The portrait shows a powerful historical warrior figure – Vercingetorix (F) – rendered as a high relief in warm bronze-toned/bronzed metal. The man is depicted in three-quarter profile and looks determined to the left, giving the work a stately and watchful appearance.
His long, wavy hair falls to his shoulders and frames a strong face with deep-set eyes, a straight nose, and a distinctive, downward-curving mustache. The facial expression exudes courage, determination, and authority.
The attributes on his chest emphasize his military status and symbolize honor, combativeness, and defense.
The background of the relief is kept even, so the finely modeled bust stands out strongly. The warm bronze color, combined with subtle dark patina in the deeper areas, enhances the sculptural form and gives the whole piece an authentic, antique look.
