The artist's journey:

Son of parents working abroad, Pierre Sullice, aka pier, spent his childhood and adolescence in Latin America. It was during his stay in Ecuador, thanks to the friendship of his son-in-law, that he discovered the work of Oswaldo Guayasamín and awakened to painting. Since that day, he has become passionately devoted to painting, especially modern and contemporary.

After studying modern literature and philosophy, pier joined the Fémis before writing his first fiction screenplay, the story of a painter exiled in the Cévennes who discovers a materialist approach to painting thanks to a person with Down syndrome. Entitled “The Transparent Woods,” the screenplay won the Cent Premières œuvres, a competition established by France Télévisions. Pier himself made the film, which was broadcast on France 3, RFO and TMC and awarded at numerous festivals.

Without renouncing writing, reading and audiovisual animation, pier continues his exploration of the visual arts, creating numerous collages inspired by drawings by children. In 2023, after ending his career in audiovisual work, he settled in the Gard to devote himself exclusively to painting.

Thriving in his Lecques studio, pier broadens his pictorial exploration by working on recycled paper supports or decorative canvases on frames through acrylic painting, markers or pastel. In doing so, he openly aligns with the Art Brut and Cobra movements, which owe as much to Chaissac as to Karel Appel, Alechinsky or Bengt Lindström. By blending spontaneity and humor, he weaves a personal path that leads to a florilegium of characters both surprising and endearing.
