Original Brooks B.68 leather bicycle saddle, made in England.
A fine and well-preserved vintage Brooks saddle with its original thick genuine leather top and characteristic sprung steel construction with large double rear coil springs.
The saddle bears the original “Genuine Leather – Brooks – B.68” embossed marking on the leather, as well as the Brooks/model markings on the metal components.
The saddle has been carefully cleaned and conserved. Surface oxidation on the metal parts has been carefully removed and the leather has been properly treated and conditioned. The leather is no longer dry and is supple and smooth, as it should be for use.
The leather remains in good vintage condition. There are normal signs of age and use, including some surface marks and minor wear, but no severe drying or heavy craquelure. The leather retains a smooth appearance and remains flexible.
The metal frame, rails and springs are solid and functional. They show normal traces of age and use, with some remaining minor oxidation and surface wear consistent with a vintage bicycle saddle.
The saddle is ready for use, while retaining its authentic vintage character and original patina. It has not been over-restored.
