A powerful and expressive work by the internationally known graffiti and street art artist QUIK, created in 2011 during his stay in Heerlen, the Netherlands, with artist Remy Vervloet († 24 April 2012).
The canvas shows an energetic composition in which QUIK’s recognizable visual language meets an explosion of color, lines, tags and layered spray techniques. The strong Felix figure in the foreground forms a striking contrast with the lively background of red, pink, green, blue and white. The combination of figuration, graffiti and free abstraction gives the work a direct urban feel and makes every detail fascinating anew.
QUIK, born Lin Felton in Queens, New York, is among the pioneers of the New York graffiti movement. He gained international renown with his characteristic, often humorous and socially conscious style. His work is included in major public and private collections, including the Museum of the City of New York, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and various Dutch museum collections.

The provenance makes this work special. It was created in 2011 during QUIK’s personal stay with the Heerlen artist Remy Vervloet, who passed away on 24 April 2012. Thus, the painting carries not only the signature of an internationally influential graffiti pioneer but also a concrete and personal connection to Dutch art and street art history.

On the reverse side there is a handwritten inscription referring to the creation and provenance of the work. The original painted sides and the visible traces of the making process enhance the authentic, raw character.
