Monumental hand-blown goblet – circa 1875–1925

Extremely large and expressive goblet, fully made in warm amber-colored glass. Because of its generous size, powerful form, and lively structure, it is not only a utilitarian object but above all a striking decorative glass piece.

The tall goblet has a slightly outward-flaring shape and is adorned all around with a dynamic spiral-relief. This makes the glass appear to be in constant movement. The warm amber-colored glass beautifully captures the light and creates deep golden, honey-yellow, and dark brown nuances.

Throughout the glass, numerous small air bubbles and irregularities are visible. These formed during the hand-made production process and give the glass a unique character. Subtle differences in wall thickness and shape also emphasize the artisanal craftsmanship.

The glass rests on a long stem with a wide round foot. At the bottom of the goblet, a clearly rough, unpolished pontil mark is visible. This points to traditional hand-made production and suits a dating around the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century.

Condition

The glass is in good used condition, appropriate for its presumed age. There are light superficial signs of wear and small scratches visible. The air bubbles, glass threads, color variations, slight asymmetry, and the rough pontil are features of the hand-made production process.

As far as visible in the photos, there are no large cracks or missing parts. Please examine all photos carefully; they form an important part of the description.
