Capodimonte - Lidded vase - Porcelain

Wonderful and majestic potiche vase with bas-relief narrative, these pieces date to the second half of the 20th century, but the original models trace back to the 18th-century Doccia repertoire.

It is characterized by beaded borders with foliate elements, the two noble heads, the paintings and the butterflies, the lid with a bird-shaped knob, also hand-painted with pastel colors and gold leaf.

This potiche was produced both in polychrome and white glaze, even in the late 19th century and then throughout the 20th century, while today they are out of production.

The bas-relief decorative modules were designed at Doccia in the 18th century but passed into history as Capodimonte models because they were enriched in the second half of the 19th century with the Bourbon emblem, the blue crowned N, thus generating erroneous attributions, refuted only by the 1960s.
