In this series of acrylics on canvas 107 x 107 cm (to be mounted on 100 × 100 cm), the gaze moves from the base of the tree to the immensity of its crown, transforming a everyday motif into a contemplative experience. The upward viewpoint alters the perception of the landscape and turns the trunk into an axis that connects earth with sky, the tangible with the imagined.
Each work explores an emotional season more than a natural moment. The exuberance of the foliage, the intensity of autumn red, or the serenity of winter blues do not merely describe the cycle of nature; they also reflect the states of transformation, renewal, and permanence that accompany the human experience. The tree thus appears as a living being that records the passage of time without losing its identity.
The ornamental backgrounds, built through graphics and decorative rhythms, dialogue with the organic structure of branches and leaves. Far from competing with nature, these patterns amplify its energy and evoke the cultural memory embedded in the landscape. The painting establishes a balance between observation and evocation, between the precision of drawing and the freedom of painterly gesture.
The richness of textures, transparencies, and chromatic overlays creates a constant vibration on the surface of the canvas. The color does not merely describe light; it builds an atmosphere where reality blends with emotion. Bright greens, vivid reds, and deep blues articulate a visual narrative that invites experiencing the tree as a space of introspection.
More than botanical representations, these works are portraits of nature understood as a universal symbol of resilience, growth, and memory. By placing the viewer under the canopy, the artist proposes a reversal of the habitual gaze and recovers the capacity for wonder in what, being everyday, often goes unnoticed. Each canvas reminds us that the tree not only sustains its branches: it also sustains time, history, and the permanent possibility of rebirth.
Aleix Albareda is an experienced Spanish painter with national exhibitions. His main focus is the figure and the landscape in a dreamlike world, achieved through an expressionist style with acrylic painting. His overall artistic vision is full of drama, relevance, and power.
