Philippe Gourdon was born in Paris in 1958. He divides his time living and working between the French Riviera and the Perigord. having spent several years studying drawing from live models in the 1980's, he did not begin his career as a painter until 30 years later.

The body is his favourite subject. The body, in what is the most universal yet at the same time most singular , the most familiar and intimate, yet always foreign. The body as an expression of the most secret emotions.
