Description from the seller
Flora Nocturna
MiLo (1976), Netherlands
Flora Nocturna presents a group of elongated botanical forms rising against a deep black ground. Their pale stems and boldly patterned heads suggest flowers, seed pods or imagined plant structures without referring to any particular species.
The strong contrast between black and off-white gives the work a striking graphic quality. Repeated marks create rhythm within the individual forms, while variations in height, scale and direction give the composition a lively, organic character. Splashes and incidental traces of paint across the dark background add spontaneity to the otherwise structured arrangement.
The imagery sits somewhere between a nocturnal garden and an invented botanical world — familiar enough to suggest vegetation, yet abstract enough to remain ambiguous. The result is a bold and decorative contemporary work with a strong presence in both minimalist and eclectic interiors.
Executed in acrylic on canvas.
