Connection explores the most powerful moment of a relationship: the instant just before contact. Drawing on one of the most iconic images in art history, the work transports that gesture into a contemporary language, where graffiti, abstraction, and figurative painting coexist without hierarchies.
The hands remain suspended, separated by an almost imperceptible distance. This empty space becomes the true protagonist of the composition, representing everything that cannot be touched, but is deeply felt: trust, memory, identity, faith, and belonging. The connection happens not only between two figures but also between different eras, visual languages, and forms of expression.
The urban strokes surrounding the scene break with the solemnity of the classical reference and place it in the present. The golden halo, far from symbolizing only the sacred, becomes a metaphor for the invisible energy that unites people, ideas, and experiences.
In Connection, Hione proposes a reflection on what brings us together in an increasingly fragmented world. The work suggests that the most meaningful connections do not always materialize through touch, but through intention, empathy, and the ability to recognize the other even before reaching them.
