Description:
This Elgin pocket watch features a classic white enamel dial paired with decorative black Arabic numerals and a pair of blued steel spade hands, a design widely used by Elgin National Watch Company around the turn of the 20th century. A small seconds sub-dial with a 10-60 track sits at the six o'clock position, and the case is finished in a gold tone with a swing ring at the pendant for attaching a chain or fob. Please note the case is gold-filled, not solid gold.
The movement is hand-wound, using a keyless winding crown at the pendant for both winding and time-setting, in keeping with typical American pocket watch construction of the period. Elgin was one of the largest watch manufacturers in the United States, and pieces from this era are appreciated by collectors for their classic dial design and enamel craftsmanship.
