Description from the seller
Vintage IWC Automatic Calibre 852 – 14K Gold – Silver Dial – circa 1957
Elegant vintage International Watch Company Schaffhausen automatic wristwatch in a solid 14K gold case, powered by the respected IWC calibre 852.
The watch features a silver-coloured dial with applied gold-tone Arabic numerals, faceted hour markers, dauphine-style hands and a central seconds hand. The dial has developed a beautiful natural patina with light spotting and age-related marks. These details are much more visible in enlarged photographs than in normal viewing conditions and are considerably less noticeable in person.
The case is well preserved and shows no major signs of wear, only minor traces consistent with the age of the watch. A transparent protective film is applied to the outer surface of the caseback.
With a diameter of 35 mm excluding the crown, the watch is large and well proportioned for a 1950s dress watch. The slim bezel, long curved lugs and domed crystal give it an elegant and balanced appearance on the wrist.
The automatic movement is signed International Watch Co. Swiss, marked Cal. 852, and numbered 1,431,859. Based on the movement serial number, the watch dates to approximately 1957.
The movement has been professionally serviced by a watchmaker and is currently running correctly. As with any vintage mechanical watch, long-term accuracy and water resistance cannot be guaranteed.
The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap and a later gold-plated buckle. The buckle is not made by IWC.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description and provide the most accurate representation of the watch’s condition.
