Michiel Folkers (Gieler) presents 097-4 (ORIGINAL), a unique 2026 acrylic‑ink original print in ultramarine blue on 540 g museum paper, 77 by 54 cm, hand‑signed on the front with a Certificate of Authenticity, sold directly by the artist in the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
Original artwork: Unique teddy bear print on museum paper
This original work was made with a second-hand teddy bear, sourced from flea markets or rescued from the waste stream. The teddy bear is immersed in deep dark red acrylic ink and then pressed in one motion onto high-quality museum paper. Each print is unique; due to the printing technique and the deformation of the bear, the same image can never be reproduced exactly.
The teddy bear is a recurring motif within the oeuvre of Michiel Folkers (Gieler) and appears in both his studio and street work.
Artist: Michiel Folkers (Gieler)
Technique: Original print with acrylic ink
Material: Ultramarine blue acrylic ink on 540 g acid-free thick rag paper
Edition: Unique
Signed: Yes, on the front
Included: Certificate of Authenticity
Shipping: Within 48 hours, carefully packaged and shipped in a sturdy tube.
Number: 117-2-6 (visible in blind embossing on the front)
Numbering 97-4 stands for:
the 97th teddy bear used;
the 4th original print;
out of a total of 5 unique prints made with this teddy bear.
After the sixth print, the ink buildup and the structure of the teddy bear have changed so much that further prints do not have the same quality or appearance. Therefore this edition is definitively closed.
About the artist
Michiel Folkers (1982), better known as Gieler, began in the late 1990s as a graffiti artist in Amsterdam. The influence of the street is still visible in his work: direct, raw and experimental. From his studio, he develops unique techniques where everyday objects are used as printing media. His work is in private collections and is sold internationally through galleries and art platforms.
